This worksheet is made to further introduce students to the following modal verbs: Should, can, could, might, may, would, and will. While a key is provided, students will likely suggest answers that also make sense given the sentence that is listed in the worksheet. I use this as an opportunity to show students that finding the correct modal verb has more to do with the context in which the sentence is being said than the sentence itself (example: when asking a friend for permission, people use "can," when asking a colleague, people use "could" or "may")

This is not going to leave students with an expert understanding of modal verbs, but it serves as a good introduction to the concept.

This downloadable handout is best suited for business/professional students, high school students and adults at Elementary (A1) and Pre-intermediate (A2) level. It is a useful material for practising Auxiliary verbs and Modals in English, and is excellent for enhancing your students' Writing skills. You will find the key at the end of the worksheet.
