A reading comprehension that describes the historic origins of Bonfire Night and how British people celebrate it today. The first paragraphs are centred on the Gunpowder plot and Guy Fawkes, whereas the last paragraphs are about the festival itself.
Through this text and its exercises students can adquire a better knowledge of the festival. They can also practice the Simple Past, improve their vocabulary and become familiar with more complex grammar structures.

The present printable, downloadable handout is a great resource for high school students and adults at Pre-intermediate (A2) and Intermediate (B1) level. It is valuable for consolidating Past simple tense in English, and is a valuable material for strengthening your students' Reading skills. It focuses on the topic and words of United Kingdom.
