I am a great fan of Lanterfish www.bogglesworld.com and their reading packets. I used their concept to build sentences in the present tense (simple and continuous). The object of these cards is to build the sentences and so work out how to use the two tenses. These cards are meant as drill activities. The idea is to print out, cut out and then lay out the cards so they can be sorted into sentences. I hope it works for you.

This downloadable handout is best suited for elementary school students and students with special educational needs, learning difficulties, e.g. dyslexia at Beginner (pre-A1) and Elementary (A1) level. It is valuable for consolidating Present simple vs continuous (progressive) tense in English, and was designed for developing your pupils' Reading skills.
