-T draws students’ attention to two pictures depicting a girl who can swim and a guy who can’t. Teacher reads the sentences. He asks students to listen and repeat. Teacher then asks students to repeat individually.

-In the second exercise, students are asked to write sentences about characters ability to play particular sports using can or can’t, and then ask questions and provide answers using a model example. Before they start the activity, teacher drills with students the model example.

- In the end, teacher asks students to work in pairs, and then ask and answer each other about sports they can play and those they can’t.

The present printable, downloadable handout is a great resource for elementary school students and adults at Beginner (pre-A1), Elementary (A1) and Pre-intermediate (A2) level. It is aimed at practising Modals in English, and can be used for strengthening your students' Spelling, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills.
