Why should I use the seatbelt? This one is a pair work task in which two Ss are just about to go somewhere in a car but the passenger refuses to fasten the seatbelt. He/She has a lot of reasons why not to buckle up. The driver has to convince him/her that he/she should. You might want to start the class on a conversation about what students think about seatbelts, then go on to the reading task, and finally do the persuasion task. Page 2 contains example refutations of the anti-seatbelt arguments. On Page 3 you´ll find the solutions. Enjoy! :)

This printable, downloadable handout was created for high school students at Pre-intermediate (A2) and Intermediate (B1) level. It can be used for strengthening your class' Speaking and Reading skills. It features the theme of Means of transport. The key is provided, too.
