This lesson is from an early report by radionz.co.nz about the NZ 7.8 earthquake on 14/11/2016 and the floods in Wellington the next day. It contains a reading, gapfill, word spacer, speaking and writing. With thanks to Breaking News English.com as I used their lesson structure. You can find many short videos on youtube.com to illustrate the damage sustained.

This printable, downloadable handout is a great resource for adults at Beginner (pre-A1) and Elementary (A1) level. It is aimed at consolidating Past simple tense in English, and is a valuable material for developing your pupils' Speaking, Reading and Writing skills. It is about the vocabulary topic of Environment and Weather.

Hi! I live in New Zealand and teach low-level and often pre-literate refugees and migrants where the emphasis is on communication before proficiency! Speaking, pronunciation, listening, reading and writing are the skills these students want and need first to survive in their new environment. Very interesting!
