I see the sea! He rode along the road. Fir trees and fur coats. I ate eight biscuits. Our hour has come. Shake hands with the sheikh. The guerrilla killed the gorilla.

I had a lot of fun writing these homophone sentences. I hope your students enjoy the worksheet too.

I've found that students don't always realise that the words are pronounced the same - I make them read out the sentences to get the idea into their heads that the pronunciation really is identical.

NB. In a few cases they are only homophones in British English.

You can also find practice tasks at http://www.englishshouldbefun.com/homophones/

Enjoy!

The present downloadable worksheet is a great resource for business/professional students, high school students and adults at Pre-intermediate (A2) level. It is valuable for revising Homonyms (two words with the same pronunciation - homophones and homographs) in English. You will find the answer key at the end of the worksheet.
