This worksheet aims at introducing purpose expressions and how they are used to join sentences. What makes this worksheet useful is that the activities are designed in a way that ensures gradual transition. It includes an introductory activity that allows students to notice the use of the various expressions ( in order to, so as to, so that...). Then, students are invited to apply these strucures to another example to check their understanding. The second activiy introduces them to more practice including negative forms. The worksheet ends with a nice role-play activity.

This downloadable printable is best suited for high school students at Intermediate (B1) level. It is aimed at practising Clauses of purpose (e.g. in order to, so that, so as to) in English.
