Here is a new worksheet to practise using past simple or past continuous for interrupted actions and as comprehension , they match the sentences to the pictures.

The present downloadable handout is best suited for high school students, elementary school students, adults and students with special educational needs, learning difficulties, e.g. dyslexia at Elementary (A1), Pre-intermediate (A2) and Intermediate (B1) level. It is a useful material for teaching Past continuous (progressive) tense, Past simple tense and Past simple vs continuous tense in English, and is excellent for working on your pupils' Spelling, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills. It is focused on the topic and words of Actions.
