LETTER BY LETTER

‘LETTER BY LETTER’ is a domino style word game.

OBJECTIVE:
Can you link the cards so that they all connect by making only ONE change to each word?
(It’s not easy as there are some instances where more than one card will work.)

But there is ONE way to link all 32 cards by following the rules below…

You can add your card, but you can only change one letter of the word.

You can… Move a letter, Add a letter, Remove a letter, or Change a letter,

For example:

To change the word ‘EAT’ to the word ‘TEA’ you can move the letter ‘T.’
“I would like to move the letter ’T’ to make the word ‘TEA’, please.”

To change the word ‘TEA’ to the word ‘TEAM’ you can add the letter ‘M’
“I would like to add the letter ‘M’ to make the word ‘TEAM’, please.”

To change the word ‘TEAM’ to the word ‘TEA’ you can remove the letter ‘M’.
“I would like to remove the letter ‘M’ to make the word ‘TEA’, please.”

To change the word ‘TEAM” to the word ‘TEAR’ you can change the letter ‘M’.
“I would like to change the letter ‘M’ for the letter ‘R’ to make the word ‘TEAR’, please.”

The solution is included in the download.

This downloadable handout is recommended for high school students, elementary school students, kindergartners and nursery school students and adults at Elementary (A1), Pre-intermediate (A2), Intermediate (B1) and Upper-intermediate (B2) level.
