I taught this listening using as a warmer a video on Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHQ6kJ2cYFw. I also used parts 3 and 6. They are only a minute or so each. There is a short reading about Satchmo at the end.

The present downloadable teaching material is a great resource for adults at Elementary (A1) and Pre-intermediate (A2) level. It is a useful material for practising Present simple tense in English, and was designed for strengthening your pupils' Listening, Speaking and Reading skills. It is focused on the theme of Love, romance, dating.

Hi! I live in New Zealand and teach low-level and often pre-literate refugees and migrants where the emphasis is on communication before proficiency! Speaking, pronunciation, listening, reading and writing are the skills these students want and need first to survive in their new environment. Very interesting!
