Teacher asks Ss to discuss, in pairs, the difference between a discovery and an invention. Feedback.
Ss rearrange the Percy Shaw story in pairs.
Elicit the use of the past continuous tense.
(Can insert some grammar practice here)
Ss have to, in groups of 3 or 4, make up their own inventions! They have to brainstorm some ideas first on a separate piece of paper, then they have to fill in the make your own invnetion worksheet. For the reasons box, they have to tell the story of how they thought of their invention. Stress that they must use the past continuous.

The present downloadable printable is a great resource for high school students at Intermediate (B1) level. It is great for practising Past continuous (progressive) tense in English, and is a valuable material for working on your students' Speaking and Writing skills. It features the theme of Computers & Technology. The answers are provided, too.

Hi! I live in London at the moment, studying languages at King's and teaching English on the side - hectic, but so much fun!
