practising some vowel sounds to identify listening and pronunciation errors in a fun way.
You can run this in many different ways but I choose to use a /b/ or a /p/ beginning to assist the Arabic speakers in the class more.
Depending on the level, have the students write down a secret number and communicate this to others, in either small groups or as a whole class, by giving the corresponding word.
The other students must decide which numbers they have said and write it down.
If a common mistake is made by the student, this will be shown if the majority of the other students chose the wrong number.
Another way, especially for more able speakers, is to have them give their phone number (or use a selection of pay as you go cards). The students then get to call the number and see if they were correct!!!
