A humorous text about a so-called Buddhist sect meant to have started in the 56th Century before Lady Gaga. After reading, the readers must try and put together aphorisms supposed to have been written by the sages of the sect (for instance: "If Angelina Jolie had had a moustache, she would have looked even more gorgeous without it.") This text can serve as an introduction to the topic of religions and spirituality: Why are so many people today attracted to Eastern religions?

The above printable, downloadable handout is recommended for high school students and adults at Upper-intermediate (B2) and Advanced (C1) level. It is great for teaching Conditionals - Mixed conditionals in English, and is a valuable material for improving your pupils' Reading skills. It focuses on the vocabulary topic of Humor and Traditions, national customs.
