When and where were you born - Speaking activity

This worksheet includes a variety of famous people around the globe. Some have already passed away and others are still alive. The aim of this exercise is to print out the worksheet and cut each square individually. After you have done that, you can use the cut outs as a name tag to each student. You can tell your learners to assume the identity of the person on the tag, then they will have to tell their names, the place they were born and when they were born. This is to promote speaking and the use of the past simple tense of the verb to be (was-were). If you have any other suggestions for this worksheet, feel free to comment. I hope you enjoy this exercise along with your learners.

The above printable, downloadable handout is meant for high school students, elementary school students and adults at Elementary (A1) and Pre-intermediate (A2) level. It is a useful material for teaching Past simple tense in English, and is excellent for honing your students' Speaking skills. It centers around the vocabulary topic of Celebrities (stars, famous people).
