Whose Game

Bring six students to the front of the classroom, and give them one card to each of them. They can't show them until the teacher says so. The teacher tells them to show them, and after a few seconds (7-8, I'd say), hide them again. Take one of them and ask: "Whose is this X?". The student has to answer with the genitive: "It's John's". If you show and drill the structures a couple of minutes before you start the game, it works wonders. Again, a small prize (a sweet, for example) is quite an incentive. It worked really well

The above downloadable teaching material is best suited for elementary school students and kindergartners and nursery school students at Beginner (pre-A1) and Elementary (A1) level. It is great for consolidating Pronouns: Possessive pronouns (e.g. my, mine) in English, and is excellent for improving your students' Speaking skills.
