This presentation aims to engage students in discovering grammar. The examples used are taken from the coursebook Lifelines, intermediate, Tom Hutchinson, OUP. After reading and listening to the dialogues "Gossip", students are shown a few selected sentences. Their task is to notice the differences between direct and reported sentences and thus formulate the rules for reporting statements, questions, commands and requests.

The present downloadable teaching material is intended for high school students and adults at Intermediate (B1) level. It is a useful material for practising Reported Speech (Indirect speech) in English.
