Developing Our People
Learning is at the core of what we do. Our teachers' knowledge, experience and expertise are recognised, shared and developed.
We believe that continuous professional development (CPD) is an entitlement for, and the responsibility of, all staff. We believe that CPD is a continuous and pervasive process and our staff value this sharing of learning.
A comprehensive, structured and thorough induction programme introduces new staff to our community and ways of working at BISC. This will involve the allocation of mentors to offer support and guidance, and supportive meeting with managers throughout the initial period. Our Staff Welfare Coordinator ensures new staff are also appropriately introduced to Cairo.
A comprehensive Professional Review policy is well established and fully embedded at BISC. This process is driven by staff and used to identify strengths and areas they wish to develop further. This cycle of reflective review, action and evaluation drives the vision and the strategic plan for CPD. All staff are entitled to an annual professional review where CPD requirements are identified, agreed and fully supported. The process ensures a positive growth of professional practice; the impact is classroom based and ultimately on the learning experiences of our students.
