As an EFL Teacher you will be at the forefront of developing students' Life Skills through teaching, tuition and guidance during the English course.

Together with your centre team, you’ll be responsible for maximising both student and Group Leader satisfaction, ensuring that we meet or exceed expectations, whilst working within pre-determined budgets.

EFL Teacher duties include:

To teach as required
To lead activities and excursions if the centre is not on a full day teaching programme
To monitor students' proficiency and track students' progress
To complete academic administration in a timely manner
To attend all relevant meetings, workshops and feedback sessions
To ensure adequate preparation for all teaching and activity / excursion sessions
To maintain proper levels of student discipline, safety and welfare
To carry out residential supervision duties, including meal and bedtime supervision
To carry out other duties necessary for the proper running of the centre

Working week:

6 days out of 7 (1 day off per week)
42 hours per week (30 contact teaching hours* plus preparation)
*(15 contact teaching hours per week if on a half-day teaching schedule)

£44.80 deduction per week for residential accommodation (if required)

    (Experience of working in junior education / learning or experience of working in a summer school environment are desirable)

  3. Qualification

    BA in any subject + Any accredited 100+ hour English teaching certif.

    (CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL (TEFLI) or appropriate Qualified Teacher Status (Essential). DELTA / Tinity DipTESOL (TEFLQ) (Desirable))

  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  5. Excellent organisational and planning skills
  6. Ability to motivate, lead and inspire students
  7. Ability to work under pressure
  8. The ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and demonstrate boundaries with children and young people
  9. Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours

  11. The ability to adapt teaching styles to suit the nature of short summer courses

Our centre is located next to the seafront in a building which is part of the University of Portsmouth. Both the centre and accommodation are within a short walk of the city centre, the Historic Dockyard and the Clarence Pier. Portsmouth has a lot to offer, with sights such as the Spinnaker Tower and Southsea Castle, and is also very close to other interesting cities such as Southampton, Chichester and Brighton.
