Task description:
Predict and interpret as you watch the video. Multiple choice and 2nd & 3rd conditional matching at the end. Could also be used for passive tense.
Scene summary:
A crime occurs at a drive thru. However, it's a comedy. The thief accidentally gives the money to a policeman and takes home a hamburger and fries.

1) What will the thief try to do?

  • steal the food
  • steal the money
  • take the employee hostage

2) What will he do now since he tied up the employee?

  • run away
  • serve the customer
  • hide inside the drive thru

3) What does the thief do to get away with the crime?

  • He serves the policeman.
  • He takes the money and leaves.
  • he hides under the table

4) What did he just realize?

  • The policeman saw him steal the money.
  • The policeman wants his money.
  • He mixed up the bags.

5) Use the 2nd or 3rd conditional to match the sentences.

Match the items:
If he knew how to cookhe could have eaten dinner in a 5-star restaurant.
If he hadn't dressed up like the chefhe might have gone to jail.
Imagining he hadn't mixed up the bagshe should have gotten a job.

Vocabulary list

  • crime: illegal activities in general
  • thief: someone who steals things from a person or place
  • drive-thru: a restaurant, bank etc where you can be served without getting out of your car
  • sneak: to go somewhere secretly and quietly to avoid being seen or heard
  • employee: someone who is paid to work for someone else
  • hostage: someone who is taken as a prisoner by a criminal so that the other side will do what the criminal wants
