Alibi is a role play where some students are accused of a crime and must make up their own story for what they were doing in teams. The rest of the class become the police and interrogate them.
Let students explore their roles and have fun.

Alibi, role play

A ppt presentation inspired by the Simpsons to practise past continuous. Someone killed Mr Burn last night and the various characters give their alibis. Then, the pupils decide who is guilty and explain why.

Who killed Mr Burn ?

Students have to come up with an alibi using past simple, past continuous etc. for what their elf was doing last night. Then interrogate each other with questions in past.

This is the material for a 5-6th grade lesson plan to develop in 2 sessions (1 hour each).

Vocabulary is then checked with the help of the PP presentation.

Instructions for the case are presented to the group. Then the case is presented and learners have some time to prepare their alibis (they have to use the Past continuous), which will be exposed during the next session.
