This is a 100 block speaking board game I created for English club. It has been very fun, but it takes a lot of time with a big number of participants. The level of questions vary.

A London River Trip

This activity helped me a lot with the numbers spelling of students at beginner levels of all ages. By dividing the class into groups and having students participate in a contest, in which the winner is the one that complete the operation apprprioately, students have fun and challenge their brain.

The four big math operations

Sit your students in a circle and preferably have a big dice; let your students take turn rolling. The activity corresponding to the number it lands on must be done. There is a winner for every round, you can give a point to their 'teams' or individually. It's a fun break from textbooks and note-taking. Have fun!

Directions/Actions Game!

This powerpoint shows various top-rated London attractions with a few figures and facts. Pupils have to make questions with How long? How often? How much? How many? How big?...+ When. It 's also a good exercise to revise numbers.

London attractions, the HOW-questions, and Numbers

Students read a text (linked in document) that describes how to write/pronounce various types of numbers in English. Then, they complete a quiz and can check their answers with an answer key. 

Mixed Numbers Quiz (With Key Included!) 

Sumo - this activity is best suited to younger students, tween & teens.

How to play:

1. Drill the words first.

2. Print out full page slides.

3. Select two 'wrestlers' who stand face-to-face, with their hands behind their backs.

4. Select two of your slides.

5. Place them in the hands of your students.

6. The idea for them to maneuver around each other in order to identify the card behind their opponent's back.

7. First one to get round his/her partner and identify the word correctly wins.



Note: you will need a fairly big open space to do this activity successfully.



Taboo/Hot Seat - best suited for older teens and adults.

How to play:

1. Drill the words first.

2. Split your class into different teams (two is best, but if you have a large class, any number could be used).

3.	Sit the students facing the board.

4.	Then take an empty chair - one for each team - and put it at the front of the class, facing the team members. These chairs are the 'hot seats‘.

5.	Then get one member from each team to come up and sit in that chair, so they are facing their team-mates and have their back to the board.

6.	As the teacher, have a list of vocabulary items that you want to use in this game.

7.	Take the first word from that list and write it clearly on the board.

8.	The aim of the game is for the students in the teams to describe that word, using synonyms, antonyms, definitions, rhymes with etc. to their team-mate who is in the hot seat - that person can't see the word!

9.	The student in the hot seat listens to their team-mates and tries to guess the word.

10.	The first hot seat student to say the word wins a point for their team.

11.	Then change the students over, with a new member of each team taking their place in their team's hot seat.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
