A selection of English ESL debate ppt slides

This just a two slide outline of how you might conduct the Silent Debate. I have added a sample of prompts and more instructions as a Word Doc. It never fails and gets students moving and expressing themselves.

The Silent Debate - how to do it

Every slide has a debate statement. Students must state if they agree or if they disagree. They must then explain why they agree or disagree. This helps generate debate and discussion.

These slides were made for students to practice talking about their future plans, what they want to do, what they wish to see. 



Another purpose of this Powerpoint is that students get to share their ideas and opinions with their friends about what matters, whether it be about themselves or society, so you can find a tint of social issue conversation their.



In this activity, I made students pair up or make a group of three. Teachers need to make sure to encourage follow-up questions so they can discuss reasons and alternatives too.

Future plan: Speaking activity 

it's a ppt showing some common expressions for saying

agree or disagree about something. There are strong agreement and disagreement, like "I totally agree with you...". Moreover, there are some simple topics that can be debated among students. Fully editable.

This ppt consists of free time activity-related discussion questions, prictures, mock debates and role-plays. It can be used for making intermediate learners speak about the topic.

I made a 30 question PowerPoint presentation on America. (Obviously things differ depending on what part of the country you are from. You can always change an answer if you do something differently in your state.) 

American Culture Quiz

First, we begin with a bit of vocabulary to express how you like something over another. Then, vocabulary to express your opinion in a more elaborated speech and also be able to debate with another partner.

Expressing opinion

I made 30 questions about board, card, tabletop, and dice games. If the students don't know what some of the games are you can explain them. Then have them explain some games from their country that you've never heard of. 

GAMES Conversation Questions

I created a ppt which focuses on delving into the topic of weather and climate. It consists of diverse speaking tasks (picture descriptions, a mock debate, a role play task, discussion questions, etc.) I hope you will enjoy it. :)

Weather and climate

The typical Jeopardy format but with topics for conversation. Topics range from Family, debate, travel, and other speaking prompts. Each category is organized on difficulty from $100 (easiest) to $500 (most difficult).

this is an ice breaker exercise. call up two students to participate. They will have to defend an idea that appears on the ppt presentation. Give each of them two minutes to talk. After they have defended their ideas, the class votes who was more convincing!

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
