In this exercise, students will learn about the various cases the verb "get" can be used. It can be used as a warm up or any practice related to the verb in question. Enjoy!

A PPT with slides having questions students can practise speaking ability on. Students pair up (one student has his/her back on the board and the other faces it reading the question aloud for the student with his/her back on the board to answer. Tell them they have to keep going for 60 seconds. Do five slides then switch seats! Have fun!

Get Talking 2

A powerpoint for intermediate to advanced students to look at different uses of get. Often overlooked but very important, especially when used with services and talking about travelling.



Starts with lead-in, get sts to list as many uses as they can. (maybe they will use phrasal verbs and idioms too) then go through matching the function the sentence and rewriting the sentences with get.



The 2nd to last slide is meant to be a speaking activity. I recommend a ball throwing activity where STs must use get when they have the ball, then proceed to eliminate functions from the board so they must use the others as the game progresses. Add timers and rules for more advanced students. (e.g 15 seconds to make sentence and you can only use one hand if you make a mistake/don´t catch the ball)



If you want use a dice to randomly choose a function that can work too!
