A selection of English ESL higher ppt slides

So this was a PPT to introduce higher-level vocab words to a group of advanced students. Some of the word introduced were: passive, apathetic, charisma, enthusiasm, inherit, nurture, aggressive, reluctant, malicious, benevolent and so on. A homework assignment might be for students to choose 5 or 7 of these words and to write a poem or short paragraph using the words.

Higher-level English Vocabulary

This is a PPT I put together to help a group of students at a bilingual school prepare for a spelling bee. We looked at each word and tried to analyze why it was spelled the way it was. You can do the same thing - introduce all words and then give a spelling quiz or do a spelling bee. Students will also learn the definitions of higher-level words.

Each slide has a task which students need to solve correctly in order to get the corresponding points - higher points mean more difficult tasks. Then there is a simple explanation on the topic. Body parts - mosquito game

A presentation based on a newspaper article. May be used as a conversation idea for higher level students. First the picture can be discussed and students can guess the name of job. Then a short text appears to go with the picture. More activities may follow - remembering facts, discussing tenses use in texts etc.

ADVERBS OF DEGREE

A quiz game to play in teams in the class. There are different topics such as music, cinema and sports. The higher the points the more difficult the question. Each team takes it in turns to choose a topic and a number, if they get the question right they add it onto their score, if not they get zero. This is a challenging game that will stimulate students to talk and comment and if the teacher is clever, he or she can ask other questions or give extra information about each slide.
