You might use the following PPP presentation that you can find in the attachment below to pre-teach the vocabulary:

city/town/village( the country) and different  parts of the house including the floors+ how to tell about your house using the verb "have got". It's based on the book for children called "Kid's Box 3" =)

The characters are well known by many students. Hope they enjoy it.

This Powerpoint presentation contains an oral exercise on parts of the house and household items. The students have to say the name of the rooms and the items in the picure.

This powerpoint builds up to designing a home but begins with questions and matching activities to practise and expand vocabulary.



Slide 4 has various unusual homes for students to describe, think location, facilities, materials and who lives there as well as good and bad points.



More detailed vocab for rooms and furniture follows on from that. Slides 7 and 8 are four homes for students to compare and convince each other to buy. You can either give each student one and have them compare in groups or you can set up a role play where students buy and sell the homes.



Finally, there is a drawing activity where students design and describe a home interior. Then there is an IELTS speaking part 2 question for practise.

Design your dream home

This powerpoint presentation follows the jeopardy game format. I use it for vocabulary revision. There are five topics: types of houses, chores, equipment, furniture and translation. I left the question part of 'translation' blank, giving  only the  answers in English - you can modify the blanks according to your needs.

This Power Point presentation shows different types of homes around the world, parts of the house, furniture specific for different parts of the house. It can be used to introduce vocabulary, to teach prepositions of place, to consolidate the structure BE MADE OF, etc.
