Here\'s my latest Golden Bell PowerPoint. Golden Bell is the name of a popular quiz show on Korean TV that features different schools. However, you can use this quiz for any purpose. This PowerPoint contains many of the topics I taught in 2019 such as Landmarks, Animals, Travelling, History, Grammar, Parts of House, American vs. British English, Transportation, Sports, Christmas, Thanksgiving and so forth. Enjoy!

Golden Bell (2019) - Popular quiz format in Korea

This is an interactive whole group game that allows students to practice speaking about prices and products.  First the students learn the vocabulary necessary to play the game through the powerpoint and then it becomes the game. I originally made this to go with the Korea Public school curriculum for lesson 5 of grade 6 but it is adaptable for any ESL environment. 

How much is it game

This is a great introduction to food for any level.  Students work in teams to match the breakfast to its country of origin.  I like to give them a list of countries to choose from just to narrow it down.  Here are the answers:

Fun to expand upon afterwards depending on the level: what foods do you see?  Which breakfast looks the most/least appetizing?  What do you eat in your country? etc.

PPT with pictures and a lot of minimal pairs covering some sounds that Koreans have difficulty with.  This goes well with the story I posted before.  You can also print the pictures and use the minimal pairs to create those follow the right path activities to practice speaking and listening.  Some included:  sip/ship  day/they  rake/lake far/par dot/thought

On slide 28, there is a page titled - "How to spell..." The words are in Korean and I would make my students translate the words and spell it out to me in English.





From slide 29 onwards is a guessing game. Students will have to match the alphabet presented with the choices of picture below. Its fun and engaging and has animations to each slide to make it interesting.

This is a 'Golden Bell' quiz I created for my Korean middle school students. It covers all the topics I taught this year (two questions per topic) such as flags, landmarks, sports, music, dates, aviation, clothes, kimchi (traditional Korean food), houses, professions, hairstyles, medicine, weather, time, the solar system & more!

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
