Some slides for making resolutions, with some ESL type exercises for example replace the missing letters. This is a revised version of one I uploaded a few years back. I hope it will be useful.

Get your students thinking about resolutions! Memory exercises; match-up; make the words... An exercise with personality adjectives. I am going to ask my students to choose one resolution and we will make a display board with them on. 

NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS

A selection of slides about making new year's resolutions. There are lots of activities - categories, gap fill, answer the questions, true or false etc. Material to make them think about their own resolutions.

New year's resolutions 2023

A matching game to do for the new year! Great for beginners and intermediate. Practices "I will" statements and using "more often" and "less often". After reading the various resolutions, students will write the number of each sentence in the "cloud" that correlates with each picture.

Lots of activities on here to keep them busy and get them thinking! Match -ups, answer the questions, memory games, how many words can you make from, personality types... make resolutions for these people and make resolutions for yourself.

This is an updated version of my power point. There are many slides from which you can pick and choose or work all the way through it. Happy New Year. Doesn't time fly? 

New Year's Resolutions 2024

Students will learn and practice common vocabulary around New Year's Resolutions.

First, they will identify common resolutions with a guessing game.

Then, they will practice speaking with a speaking prompt activity, quiz questions and an ISL Collective video quiz embedded into the presentation.

At the end, they will also practice the first conditional with a link to a fun game with Baamboozle. They will have to create first conditional sentences.

New Year's Resolutions - guess the resolution

This powerpoint presentation is an oral exercise on future tense: will/won't. The students have to look at the pictures and make a sentence in the future tense.

Learners taking the C1 Advanced exam should be able to: Express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
