Horoscopes

Star Wars game is all about things you might see in the sky. The students chose a letter and get given a vocabulary picture (plane, kite, rainbow, etc) after answering they will be given points or a mini game challenge. To be played in teams.

18 squares, 9 means of transportation with picture and word. The player chooses a square, you click on it to reveal the word/picture and s/he chooses another square, click on it to reveal the word/picture. 



If they match, let them uncovered and the player gets a point and plays again until s/he makes a mistake. If they don't match, click on the X in the picture to cover it again and it's the next player's turn.



Students try to memorize where the pictures and words are to get points.

Memory Game - MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION 1

This ppt provides beautiful pictures of the planets and there are facts written in the notes at the bottom. It is also interactive--you can add information on some of the screens.

Days of the week for children who are unable to remember. In English, the names are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, then returning to Monday. Such a week may be called a planetary week.

Typhoon is a game where the students get 20 random pictures to pick from. Teachers prepare simple questions based on the pictures. For example if it is a picture of clothes (what's your favourite clothes? why?) if it is a plane (have you ever been on a plane? and where did you go?) and so on.
All points are given with a weather, you can use this as extra vocab. (PS: the typhoon icon is free, i normally use this as a game tile ( rock, scissors, paper with another team winner take 5 points) you could use it as a lose all points card. It is up to you.

I use this presentation with my 15-year-olds when we learn about our planet and what we can do for it. It's more or less a listening (song, video clip links) and speaking presentation which offers places for discussion, there's a quiz where students assess themselves on how green they are and afterwards it offers some comics and slogans on this issue. At the end we always become creators of new slogans on how to help our planet; once we even used them on re-usable shopping bags (cotton) that I got from a big shopping centre here in our town and we put them on display later on. It was a great lesson for us all (well, we didn't do everything in one lesson ;))!
