Notes for students with the definition of what a prediction is, types of predictions and examples.

Afterwards I proceeded to work on them by having students use internet to write weather forecasts, read about Chinese and Western horoscopes, produce one for a family member and a reading/writing exercise of Palmistry to finally produce a description using "therefore" to show results/consequence.

postcards from the turn of the last century predicting what the world might be like in 2000. The ppt may be used either to elicit students§ ideas using WILL+verb and discuss them, at the end past tenses could be practiced while reflecting whether the predictions have come true and the presentation can also be used to practice reported speech.

I use this powerpoint presentation with my students to have them predict what is going to happen next. They work in teams and write down their answers on slates. Funny and weird answers are allowed as long as the grammar is OK! I also make clear that all the images are fakes! 

Be going to - predictions

This is an interactive powerpoint activity aimed at helping students think how the future perfect is formed and used. Each slide holds a picture and some words that will prompt students come up with the correct sentence.

Future Perfect - Making predictions - PPT

This is a guide about the use, forms and time expressions of the future tense. Affirmative, negative, questions and short answers examples wiil be given as examples.

FUTURE FOR PREDICTIONS (WILL/WON'T)

Students learn vocabulary related to the topic and try to guess the different films by reading the synopsis. Then they can make their own ballot using the future.

Making Predictions With Modal Verbs

This is intended as a speaking activity and a way to get students familiar with "be going to". By looking at a picture students say what is going to happen/what they are going to do. Hit the "click here" button to reveal the sentence. Click the answer button to complete the sentence. This way students can guess and practise this tense at the same time.

Learners taking the C1 Advanced exam should be able to: Express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
