This a PowerPoint for SS working on the uses of full stops, capital letters and question marks.

It includes some paired work activities.

Capital letters, full stops and question marks

Students look at a party room and try to memorise the picture. Then a sentence pops up and students try to remember where the children where and click on the question mark to check. In the end the teacher can check if students remember what each child was doing.

PAST CONTINUOUS - speaking game

Please NOTE- there are mistakes in this PowerPoint that need correcting before using with your students-

The titles should have question marks and some of the sentences are missing articles, such as- I have an earache, I have a headache. 



A power point to introduce students to the vocabulary we use to say we are ill. 



I printed off each picture as well to hand out to each SS to practice the correct vocabulary.

Illnesses (what's the matter?) 

A fun way to test children on their use of punctuation. Focus is on speech marks, exclamation & question marks, capital letters and full stops.



This quiz is setup for 4 teams to work together, adding their punctuation. I had cards for them to stick on the board, but you could have students call out. 



Sentences are drawn from the Biff & Kipper books, and can be easily amended if you think they are too easy or hard.

Work through 3 puzzle-based mysteries with Detective Holmes.

The mysteries are presented in a newspaper/noir style.

Each mystery could take 5 - 10 minutes to complete, depending on students' level.

Detective Holmes Mysteries

This is intended as a SPEAKING activity after students have discussed the importance of brands in their lives. Students need to guess the scrambled words (brands). Click on the question mark and the logo will pop up. Click again and the brand's name will appear.

A two part powerpoint worksheet. 

Print and distribute the three business types among your students and have them discuss the merits of each and compare them using the questions.



After the students have decided what might happen in the future move on to a group activity where students design a business of their own and explain why it's a good idea.



The last part of the ppt has questions for IELTS and an activity where students identify popular brands and discuss the business behind them and why they are successful.

IELTS Businesses and Brands

Punctuation shows how the sentence should be read and makes the meaning clear. Every sentence should include at least a capital letter at the start, and a full stop, exclamation mark or question mark at the end. This basic system indicates that the sentence is complete.

Use of punctuation mark in the sentences 

4 team play (the crawfish, the piranhas, the alligators and the frogs.  Have the alligators go first and then the crawfish and then the piranhas and then the frogs.   Click on the ? mark and have team 1 (alligators) answer the question, go back and wait for the crawdads to appear and click on it to change the team (just like tic tac toe).  Kids love competing with one another.  Two teams can also play this game.

Prepositions of time MAX SQUARES

Question words, click on the middle of the wheel, wait and then click again.  Click on the question mark that the arrow is pointing to and then have the kids make a sentence with the question word given.  You might want to turn the sound down so that the thunder doesn't scare the kids.

This is a PPTX picture general knowledge quiz for 5 - 8 year olds. It contains 20 multiple choice questions with pictures covering animals, colours, numbers, food and prepositions. The students observe the pictures while the teacher reads the questions. Students can either mark (draw the sign)answers on an answer sheet, or say the answer in teams. The options are marked with letters OXL so that it would be easier for the little ones to write them down (if asked to).
