Students will describe the Russian town of Oymyakon in their own words from looking at pictures. This encourages sentence building and sentence structure. Enjoy.

Oymyakon Speaking Task

The students are offered three Halloween-themed games: would you rather, scattegories and guess the sound. 

The lesson can last up to 40 minutes, and I suggest adding a fortune-telling game in the end: https://learnhip.com/fortune/index.php (students say a number between 1 and 4, and one of their classmates tells them their future based on the runes)

Halloween (speaking games)

It's a speaking task to master in speech personality traits and appearance vocabulary. The worksheet is based on the TV series Good Girls. To be able to describe everyone you need to watch at least one season

Good Girls (Speaking)

This is a set of cards I usually use in Units related to personal introduction. One student pretends he / she is one of the characters and other asks questions. They are facing the other students, who check if they're asking the right questions. 

Speaking cards: introducing yourself 

Students look at a party room and try to memorise the picture. Then a sentence pops up and students try to remember where the children where and click on the question mark to check. In the end the teacher can check if students remember what each child was doing.

PAST CONTINUOUS - speaking game

With this presentation students will be able to learn some useful vocabulary to describe their physical appearance and to talk about other people's appearance. Moreover, I have included some speaking questions at the end for students who have certain fluency in English.

These slides were made for students to practice talking about their future plans, what they want to do, what they wish to see. 



Another purpose of this Powerpoint is that students get to share their ideas and opinions with their friends about what matters, whether it be about themselves or society, so you can find a tint of social issue conversation their.



In this activity, I made students pair up or make a group of three. Teachers need to make sure to encourage follow-up questions so they can discuss reasons and alternatives too. 



They really liked it. 

Future plan: Speaking activity 

This worksheet is to teach the students some phrasal verbs to use when communicating. It is made up with pictures to show and conversation to practice speaking.

Grammar speaking activity: Students speak about their own and their friend's life (activities, likes and dislikes etc.), using the Present Simple Tense (train 3rd person singular "S", don't and doesn't)

Present Simple Speaking Activity

The powerpoint presentation aims at practising speaking for FCE. It includes all the four parts of the section. The topic is holidays and travelling. Part 4 can be adjusted. It's not necessary to make your students answer all the questions. Choose the ones which would be the most suitable for them.

You would need to adapt this power point as my version doesn't allow me to make the numbered boxes disappear when you click on them. Basically the idea is that you ask the kids to choose a number and they get to answer the question that's behind that number. You can create a point system to make it more challenging. 

Spontaneous speaking about holidays

This slide show is an interesting speaking activity for pre-intermediate students of English. It engages the learners of English in speaking activity to practise their use of grammar (mainly present continuous tense), general vocabulary, short and long forms of (Is,am,are) negative and positive.
