Attractiveness

a worksheet to exercise the use of new vocabulary learnt to describe attractions. Words like exhilarating and magnificent. I used this to help my high school students make a presentation about their local town for a tourism module.

An easy worksheet for A1 /A2 students explaining how to use comparatives of superiority. I used New-York monuments or places to make it more attractive to them and to learn the most important landmarks in NYC. You can also use the powerpoint that goes with it - same name!)

Comparing attractions in NYC

To be used in conjunction with the Law of Attraction, which has a fill in the blank activity with quotes from the video. Depending on the level of students this activity can be completed before watching the video to help them while listening. 

The Science of Attraction

Attraction auditioned for Britain's Got Talent show, they acted out a story of a couple who meet under a bridge, fall in love, marry, and have a child. The father goes off to war and dies tragically. The piece ends with an image of the mother and daughter standing beside his tombstone.  One of the judges, Amanda Holden fought back tears and called the performance 'moving'. The worksheet can be used in several ways, i.e. discussion, vocabulary and writing.

It can be used for all levels. The worksheets have been broken down into several pages. The first one tells you about the group and their achievements. The others have visuals with vocabulary and meaning. There are also clips from each scene which can be used for younger students to tell, write the story in their own words. I usually use this worksheet like a warmer. At first, the teacher shows children just photos (he/she covers the task itself) and Ss name pics. After it, children choose one that they like (everybody chooses different one), then T opens the task itself, Ss read out their option and think about it for 1 minute (they can take some notes in the notebooks). Then, Ss talk (you can set the time limit).Completely editable.

Students must match the name of the attraction in the word bank with its picture. They must also write the country the attraction is in.

Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets
