'Fill in the gap' activity I use with my students after working on US culture, US History, main cities and touristic sites. The missing words are written on the board as we go along speaking about the USA. I then give them a few minutes to repeat  and memorize it, and finally handle them the sheet.

An exercise on idioms about death. B2 level. It starts with a standard gap-fill exercise where students try and guess the words that go in the gaps (get them to give you an example using the idiom). After that, there is a short quiz on the origins of the expressions. An answer key is provided.

What does it mean 11

Gap fill to practise talking about Christmas using the past simple. Students fill in the gaps forming the past simple from infinitives from the  box. They can then talk about their Christmas by agreeing/ disagreeing or expanding on the sentences. There is a video clip to watch to make this a listening exercise too if you wish.

The objective of this worksheet is to find out which question word would match. It is a grammar and a fun activity because you are using a song. 

You have to fill in the gaps with question words. Then while listening to the song you can check your answers and at the end you can sing the song together. 

Questions gap filling song

This song is easy to follow, so, instead of the rhyme, what about focusing on linking words (including some adverbs too). It would be a good idea to try to fill the gaps before listening -depending on the listeners' level-, and then check while listening. Then a little guessing time about the story in the song.
