What Do You Do on the Summer Holidays

Good phonetics practice.  This is a story that has a lot of difficult sounds in it for many learners but especially Korean learners.  It can be used many ways, as a listening activity, running dictation, speaking activity.  Works with tricky words like day/they, rock/lock and many more.  My favorite way to use it is with as a running dictation after a lesson on many of the difficult sounds involved in the story. 

Phoneme Story (pronunciation practice) 

It is editable. I run my class by writing the names of the clothing on the board in a mixed order and give colours opposite each word and let students colour accordingly. Young Elementary kids love this. It keeps them busy and happy : ) After colouring each item, I made them write the words in English and Korean next to the picture.

This worksheet practices changing from present simple or present continuous to past simple or past continuous. It is a great way to start a lesson or review previously learnt material. It is also useful for writing activities and is helpful for learners who are struggling to say or write what they did on the weekend.

I give the article and vocabulary for homework. The next class we check the vocabulary and then Ss do the information swap activity.  

Students then work together to complete the rest of the activities. This might only be suitable for classrooms in Korea because I use some Korean heroes, but you can change these.

Conversation lesson on heroes 

I used this as a "filler" class for my middle school students during midterm week. We watched the episode (with Korean subtitles - found online), and they could work on the worksheet during and/or after watching. If your students are lower level, I would recommend shortening the "order the events" list so it is not as intimidating for them to tackle.
