A selection of English ESL picture description printables

This ESL worksheet aims at practising Present Continuous Tense; learners write sentences about the people in the picture, describe the classroom, mark some statements T/F and answer some other questions (yes/no & WH-q.). In the end they are also asked to compare their classroom to the one in the picture. My learners like it - hope yours will, too! :)

What is going on? (Present Continuous Tense)

Two pictures, with differences. They decide which picture is being described in the 21 sentences. Then there is a further exercise on each picture: replace the missing words and choose the correct preposition.

Holiday Picture Story 1

There are 3 parts of exercise. In the first part, students have to fill the blanks with "was" or "were". In the second part, students have to rewrite the sentences into the intended forms. In the last part, students have to describe the pictures using simple past (to be), e.g.: the boy was angry yesterday; yesterday was windy.
