This is a writing exercise to encourage students to use a variety of sentence types when writing. 



The assignment consists of comparing two short stories about Jack breaking his crown. The first story is written with only simple sentences, and the second one uses all three general sentence types.



After reading and comparing, the students write about a time they were scared using only simple sentences. Then, for revision, they will write the same story using different sentence types. 



Note: This assignment presupposes knowledge, or lessons taught, on the three general sentence types: simple, compound, and complex. 

Writing with Variety

With these worksheet, you can help students make the connections between uppercase and lowercase forms of letters, and let students make the associations with the phonetic sounds for each letter. Students can learn the phonetic sounds that fit with each letter and practice the correct writing order while developing hand-eye coordination. Students will get to practice both writing the letter in the context of a word and by itself, making this a great review activity for both phonics and forming the letters of the alphabet.
