This worksheet is a good reading exercise for beginning students. The first story only uses present simple, the second past simple. The vocabulary and syntax is quite simple and both stories are very short in order to keep students motivated.

Sentence Drills

ESL Objective: The students will practice question form (“Is/are + it/he/she/they + possessive noun or possessive pronoun + noun?”)

Printed cards (Print Question cards on one color and 
Possession cards on another)

Jenga game (or comparable), ideally one for each 3-4 students.



This is one of the review games I play with my beginner kids after I’ve had them for a few months. It reinforces the possessive form of nouns and pronouns while also practicing question form.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
