Based of the board game. Students are given a letter of the alphabet for which they must choose a word beginning with that letter to fill in  each category. I usually give 3 minutes to complete the list. Teams are awarded points to the word that no other team has. For example, if all teams guessed the country "America" for the letter "A" but one guessed "Australia" and another "Austria" then those two teams would each receive a point. You can keep the same category list and keep playing different letters or move on to the next category.

Writing as a process for young learners

It is a game thanks to which pupils can revise vocabulary. A pupil is to choose one letter of the alphabet and others are to write down words grouped into seven categories beginning with a chosen letter. Pupils can work in groups or individually.

There are three different exercises in this worksheet. Firs the students will write the names of the foods then they will order the letters and finally they will complete the missing letters. you can use it in your classes or give it as a homework.

 The aim of this worksheet is to distinguish the alphabet sounds. This is an exercise on the alphabet. There are listening tasks. There is no solution.  The teacher dictates the letter of the alphabet and students circle the correct letter that they listen to.

The alphabet

As a primary school teacher I have noticed how students have trouble mixing some letters. It is especially true for letter b and d. Before doing the worksheet I would recommend pre- teaching the vocabulary or doing revision if the students are familiar with it.

Students should already know how to pronounce the letters of the alphabet and how to form upper and lower case letters. Cut the page in half (partner a and partner b). Students spell the words to each other (they have half of the words each).
