Word formation (from Verb to noun or adjective)

Adjectives can be formed from nous and verbs by adding these suffixes: -al, -ous, -ly, -able, -y,      -ed, -ing, -ful, -less, -ive, -ic. Use the word given in capitals at the end of the sentences to form a suitable adjective.

It is often difficult for students to realize which form of a verb should be used.  Visualizing verb types (simple, continuous/perfect on a time-line can make understanding which verb to use a little easier.  I use a time-line made of wood (similar to the design) in my lessons.  It seems to make the explanation easier to understand.
