The job market for young adults

This worksheet is designed for A2- level adult English learners and focuses on the topic of hobbies and their importance. The Importance of Hobbies for Adults

A short list of quite specific idioms, for use by over 18's only. This should help adult English learners to speak more naturally and describe things in a way that native English speakers do every day. These are not for the faint hearted though there aren't any really insulting phrases here but the collection will brighten any conversation with proper use (and among friends..) Please be sure to read this sheet thoroughly before you print it off. Not suitable for anyone who is easily offended and children.

Guess Who game cards are good to practice "to be" in Present Simple.

What to do? 

Cut all the cards. You can fix it with a glue on a carton. 

how to play?

Put all the cards into the box. Mix. Mix again. Let all the student to take one card. don't let them watch! The one who has a card mustn't know/see what does he/she have. But others should know. So he/she should show the others the title of his/her card. then the students starts to ask only Yes/No questions. if he/she gets the "YES" answer, he/she should continue untill he/she gets the "NO' answer. in this case the other student start. the game finishes when all the characters are known.

Guess Who game cards for adults

Some time ago I found here a very intresting game. 

Students (in close pairs first, then in an open classroom interaction) choose a random topic by pointing their pensil on the empty side of the paper. They turn the paper, check which topic they chose, and talk about it for a minute (their partner sets the timer). 



The difference with the activity which inspired me is that the topics have been selected for adults mostly. Also, topics can also be of interest to students outside of EU, namely Africa, Middle East and Asia. 



I work with people from African countries and these topics triggered their critical thinking.
