Appearance. Describing People

This Domino game can be used to teach students  'Appearance' vocabulary. It can help them remember the words. The worksheet is useful for elementary school students. But it can also be useful for adult students at elementary or pre-intermediate level.

Describing the appearance

The worksheet focuses on the vocabulary to describe appearance, namely facial features. It can be used as part of the module on the connection between personality and appearance. Tasks include listening for details, comprehension questions, and speaking activities.

This worksheet helps students practice the grammar and vocabulary involved in describing people's appearances. Students fill in the blanks to distinguish between using "is" to describe another person with an adjective (i.e. "She is tall") and using "has" to describe another person with a noun (i.e. "He has brown eyes").  Students read descriptions of four people and use the descriptions to draw pictures.

Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets
