This reading comprehension worksheet is about baking. The first aprt ia about how to bake and the baking equipment. Then there are two recipes about  baked potatoes and peanut butter brownies. the exercises are about questions, vocabulary and fill in the gaps.

An ESL memory game to practice vocabulary for baking. I made it for my Danish students during our project of reading recipes and baking cookies. Word examples weight, bowl, cutting board, egg, butter, flour, sugar, whisk etc.

BAKING A CAKE

Vocabulary about selling cupcakes at a bake sale. Teach kids new words and try to make new sentences with them.

To revise kitchen vocabulary. They look at the picture and answer the true or false sentences. They also look at the kitchen vocabulary and put a tick nest to the item once they have spotted it in the picture. MUG TREE = one of those things you hang your mugs on.

Read instructions for baking a cake then number them in sequence from 1 to 15.  Answers can be written in the "measuring cups" on the left of the worksheet.  This activity is designed to promote discussion - ask students to elaborate on each step and/or describe the procedures they follow themselves or talk about their favourite recipes

Picture description  - Mum Bunny is baking

The tasks can be used for independent studies or distance-learning classes. The worksheet is based on the adapted article from the Economist describing the new hobby that appeared during the lockdown, baking. The tasks are aimed at improving reading comprehension. Students read the article about baking as the new popular hobby and fill in the gaps with the missing sentences. Worksheet includes vocabulary (and interactive vocabulary assignment) as well comprehension questions. Finally, students research attitudes to baking in their country and prepare to speak about it and share a simple recipe.   

Baking Your Way through the Lockdown

This worksheet is for very young learners. They have to write the sentences  under the correct picture.  You can use it even with children who can't read yet if you read the sentences and the children just number them.
