It is a pair work. Everybody draws his ships on the field and needs to find the opponents ships with coordinates. Students can practice the numbers and alphabet with this game. My students enjoyed it a lot.

Students make pairs



 Students draw 4 ships in their section. 

 - small: 1 box

 - medium: 2 boxes

 - large: 3 boxes

 - extra large: 4 boxes



(They should hide their papers from their partners)



 Then they take turns asking questions to try to sink each other's ships. 

 The first student to find all of their partner's ships is the winner.



This is a good warm up activity. Questions can be changed according to the topic. 



This worksheet was used for the new year / back to school. 

Battleship 

Battleship for practicing "Look at~" and "It looks~". It's themed for Japanese festivals but I think the format is easily adaptable to any topic/two grammar points.

Preparation:Ss should hide own their ships on the grid.

One student guesses where the partner's  battleships are hidden by asking (who)(frequency) (active verb) eg. Does William always walk a dog?/ Yes, he does or No, he doesn't. If the ship is hidden on the gird, the other student should say Yes,~ otherwise, No~

The following game will help your students practise or revise the usage of modal verb "can". Students draw the ships on their boards and then they start ´shooting´ trying to quess where the partner´s ships are. Hope they like it!
