Books and Reading

It is a vocabulary exercise. The task is to match the type of book with its definition or pescriprion. This execise will help to check vocabulary knowledge of students.

Types od books

A mini book cut and make activity about jobs and workplaces.

Students will cut and make a mini book. Then they will read their books.Occupations and their workplaces.

JOBS (mini book)

This is our weekend homework for 4th graders. They have reading about types of books. The language focus was on likes and dislikes and adjectives describing personal qualities.

This is a printable about the types of the books used in my class for 4th graders. I used the ones I taught in the class. Please feel free to modify it according to your class and their needs. You might also find another worksheet which talks about their definitions. 

I made these bookmarks to help my students get familiar with the instructions and directions they find in their books. I thought it could be useful for them when doing homework. Stick front and back together and laminate. I hope you find it useful too.

My favourite book

This worksheet is for speaking purposes. You can use in a classroom or with individual students. It contains 18 questions about books and two pictures. You can edit or add any questions.

Speaking about books

It's International Book Day next Thursday. Here are some activities for your students based around the language of books. Keys included. These could be extended by: 1.research the book titles and write a paragraph about each (they are all famous/popular children's fiction). 2.Find a film to match each genre of book e.g. ghost story: The Others etc ... Hope it will be useful.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
