PHONE CALLS

Here you have two situations for role-plays that can be used either as an oral exam or to practice in class. In pairs, each students will have a role (the witness of an accident calling the emergency services or the emergency service worker). 

I gave students 5-10 minutes to think what they had to talk about and how they were going to develop the dialogue. 

This is useful in order to evaluate speaking competences.

Calling an Office

Students will learn about how to talk on the telephone, invite someone to attend an event, and politely refuse if the time is inconvenient. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
