A list of common verbs which are followed by a gerund and an article to illustrarte some of the verbs in context.  Students complete the gaps and then use the verbs to form sentences.  Useful for Trinity GESE grade 9.

There are six pictures, with different exercises on each: gap fill, prepositions, a reading comprehension, a traditional cloze and questions to elicit a full description. The pictures are from a set where each has six hidden words. I guess that part is an optional extra!

Food Chain Cloze Activity

The lyrics of the famous Christmas carol. This is one of the simpler ones I found to teach my pre-A1 students. It is not too hard to explain it's meaning. Answers are supplied and students can copy the missing words from the sentence above as it's very repetitive. Listen and watch the animation on You Tube. Use of English Grammar Tasks

The first section is a cloze dictation. The Teacher reads the full passage and students listen and fill-in the blanks. This is followed by a picture of an urban scene and students work in pairs to make sentences about the picture. Finally a discussion that can either be done in pairs or as a group.
