COOKING VERBS

The aim of the present worksheet is to offer a better insight in understanding cooking verbs.

The variety of the exercises will help students in learning new the words, their meaning and how to use them in specific contexts.

I created this worksheet as a general review activity for Step 3 of the book "Chef and Manager". However,  I think it could be very useful for anyone who teaches English for food and catering.

Are you inerested in the most famous Spanish dish? Here you're going to write the paella ingredients and its recipe, then, prepare your oral presentation. You can do it in groups.

These resources are based on the theme of cooking. There is a vocabulary/spelling practice based on cooking verbs (e.g. sprinkle, chop). This is followed by an exercise in listing ingrediants needed for a dish of the students choice. They then have to write out the method of making their chosen dish, using the cooking verbs from the first exercise. There are also punctuation and capital letter practice around the theme of food. 



I would suggest starting with a discussion about foods and cooking, maybe revising names of foods and encouraging students to discuss their favourite foods.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
