A simple worksheet for matching pictures with words, to be used for a vocabulary pre-teach in a lesson about the countryside.  

I suggest to do the first one together, drawing a line between the word and the picture.

Note - these are images pertinent to Northern England

A journalist has to move out of her rented house. Now is the time for her to make a big decision. Should she move to London or should she stay in a quiet village in the countryside? Key provided.

This is a picture description activity. The worksheet contains a picture. Students have to look at it and say if the statements given are true or false. Finally, they have to answer the questions.

This is a picture description task. Good for present continuous practice and prepositions of place. On page two there is a set of true or false questions. These can be used as model sentences to describe the picture.

This worksheet helps students get familiarised with words when talking about the advantages and disadvantages of living in a city or in the country. There are two separate tasks: one for the advantages and one for the disadvantages.

Students can then write about where they prefer living.

CITY vs COUNTRYSIDE LIFE

A fairly basic practice of the prepositions of place and the present continuous tense.  I start this off by looking at the picture and giving them some speaking practice with a TRUE or FALSE. e.g. the horse is in the pond/ the father and son are playing cricket...
