DESCRIBING PEOPLE

A series of photos taken from pixabay. There are various exercises to complete and then some photos for your students to describe. I have also uploaded this series of photos to help with inference and using modals. 

Describing photos

This worksheet is about English vocabulary. It contains different clothes vocabulary used in our daily life situations as well as in classroom context. It is in form of mini dialogues.The objective is to help students communicate and use clothes and colors appropriately. Also, it test the student's ability to ask simple WH-questions about colors and clothes.

I use this to begin the topic of appearances. First we discuss the character traits and then comple task 1 and task 2.

The list of useful words after is usually for selfwork. I tell my students they are free to add appropriate adjectives if they know more.

There are two different ways I use these cards: 

1.) Students each get a card and find their pair -the one holding the picture needs to describe the person in the picture, the ones holding descriptions read along, then look at the picture. 

2.) They play the well-known memory game.

this is a speaking activity. pupils will deal with the present propgressive tense.

Test on Pokemon intended for 3rd graders. Students have to write the parts of the body of the pokemon and then describe it. It includes a "guide chart" to help them write.

This worksheet gives some ideas for phrases and vocabulary that can be used by students to describe paintings in written work or while speaking.  

Students choose paintings which they like (using a web search) or the teacher could select a collection of paintings (for a Word doc or PowerPoint) to suit the interests of the students.

The object is to practice speaking or writing, using art as a stimulus for discussion.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
